  • Review your insurance policy: Review your homeowner’s insurance policy to see if it covers hurricane damage and flood damage. You may need to purchase separate flood insurance coverage.
  • Obtain pre-storm photographic documentation: Be sure you obtain photographic documentation of your home`s interior and exterior pre-stormcondition. Recromax offers Matterport 3-D virtual documentation services. Please contact us for more details.
  • Protect important documents: Put important documents like birth certificates, housedeeds, titles, policies, etc in water proof dry bags and/or a waterproof safe.These documents should be stored in upper areas of your home.
  • Review your plan: At the beginning of each hurricane season, review your hurricane plan for preparation and reacting to a hurricane, and discuss with your household.
  • Review your evacuation route: Typically hurricane prone areas have mapped evacuation routes. Make sure you are familiar with the evacuation route in your area in case a hurricane forces you to evacuate.
  • Prepare an emergency supply kit: Put together an emergency supply kit with items you will need in case you are trapped in your home without power or forced to evacuate. Items should include: Water, nonperishable food items, clean clothing, toiletries, batteries/flashlights, needed medications and/or speciality items, pillows/blankets, pet care items, important documents, spare keys, etc.
  • Fill your vehicle fuel tanks.
